Madison Reed Root Touch-Up

Conceal Those Roots!

Introducing Madison Reed Root Touch-Up - a powder compact that conceals roots between color sessions. Each compact offers around 60 uses and comes in seven different shades that can be brushed onto hair for instant coverage. Micro-milled pigments give hair natural-looking depth and dense root coverage. This water-resistant and pillow-proof powder is not sticky or oily and stays put until you shampoo.

Protip: Apply a light mist of hairspray before application for best coverage on very smooth or freshly washed hair.

I found it for $29.95 at madison-reed.com.

Hair Hacks - Homemade Hair Masks

Homemade Hair Conditioners and Masks

Looking for some hair conditioning hacks that you can do yourself at home? We scoured the Internet to find some of the more popular options. Some are delicious enough to eat but the great thing is that you'll likely find all of the ingredients in your pantry. Condition away!

Egg, curd and mustard oil - If you've got hay-like dry hair, give this one a try. Eggs are rich in vitamin A, B12, D and E, fatty acids and protein. The protein helps strengthen the roots, the fatty acids make it a natural hair conditioner and B12 helps add volume.

Avocado and peppermint oil - Avocados are creamy, rich and the only fruit that combines the protein of meat, fat of butter, vitamins and minerals of green vegetables. Mash some avocado, add a drop or two of peppermint oil and apply this mask on your hair. Leave it in for 15-20 minutes and wash off.

Olive oil, coconut oil and egg - Warm 2 tablespoons of coconut oil, let it cool, add one or two eggs and two tablespoons of olive oil and apply.

Coconut oil - A conditioner might work wonders for your hair but oi Coconut oil can protect your hair from sun damage, dandruff and removes sebum build-up from hair follicles accelerating hair growth. This oil gives hair certain minerals, vitamins and essential fatty acids that don't just strengthen your roots but also boost overall health of your hair. You can use it straight or you could also boil some curry leaves or Chinese hibiscus flowers in coconut oil, strain the oil and apply.

If you're suffering from hair fall then olive oil would be a better bet. You can combine it with a host of other ingredients. Here are our top few:

Olive oil with honey and cinnamon powder - Massage this paste into your scalp, leave for 15 minutes and wash.

The LOC method - It's a three part method: leave in, oil and cream. First you use some water and then use a lightweight oil like coconut, olive or almond. Follow this with Shea butter or any creamy conditioner of your choice. Leave it in for awhile and then wash thoroughly.

If there are any home remedies or hair care tips you'd like to share with us please do so under comments!

TIGI Bed Head Joyride Texturizing Powder Balm

Texture With A Twist

Introducing the new TIGI Bed Head Joyride Texturizing Powder Balm. This super styler and primer provides “second-day-hair”  so you can easily create that sexy, lived-in texture.

The Primer: This formula was inspired by skincare primer ingredients silica and elastomers, both known for creating a brilliant foundation. Elastomer molecules were custom-designed to give control and de-friz like a balm. Silica, which is found in texture powders, gives a light, lived-in finish.

The Styler: Joyride Texturizing Powder Balm controls, de-frizzes and makes styling easier by providing lived-in texture for the ultimate Bed Head look. It’s super versatile and can be applied on damp or dry hair to help avoid flyways.

Hair Backstage at Milan & London Fashion Week

The backstage hairstyles coming out of the Milan and London shows sported wet effects, swirling and styling that was downright aggressive. Here's just a taste, courtesy of WWD.

Hair was combed back with gel and kept open or collected in a chignon.

Simone Rocha - Braids with a Twist
A loose French braid was back-combed at the front at Simone Rocha for a rockabilly vibe while the Giles girls had two Elizabethan-style French plaits halfway down to the nape of the neck.

J.W. Anderson - Swooshes and Swirls
At J.W. Anderson, lengths were wrapped to form a swirling rope while at Thomas Tait, ponytails were "swooshed" to the side in a disc shape secured with a bobby pin. Looks were inspired by the circular patterns of the clothes in the shows.
